SMART POLITICS: DIGITAL POLICY PRIORITIES FOR THE EUROPEAN UNION

EIF Breakfast Debate

4 November 2009 8.00-9.30
Private Salon, Members Area, European Parliament, Brussels

This breakfast debate offered a timely opportunity for a strategic discussion on the key digitally driven priorities for Europe in the new legislature, building on the recently launched EIF Report on “The Digital World in 2025: Indicators for European Action”.  As the European Parliament looks forward to confirmation hearings for the Barroso II Commission, and as President Barroso himself invites substantive contributions to his Europe 2020 strategy, including the digital agenda, EIF is determined to raise awareness and drive digital world thinking across the broad range of EU policies. This breakfast offered EIF members an opportunity to hear from both the Council and the Commission on their states of digital mind, and offered their own views on the priorities for action over the next 5 years.
