DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT: SMART SKILLS FOR A CONNECTED WORLD

EIF Dinner Debate

13 April 2010 20.00-22.00
Private Salon, Members' Restaurant, European Parliament, Brussels

If Europe is to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth by 2020, its population must have the right level and amount of e-skills.  Building an inclusive society based on knowledge and innovation requires that all EU citizens (professionals, the elderly, women, students, the unemployed and the disabled) are sufficiently empowered and able to participate.

Europe must therefore strive to prevent exclusion and ensure life-long learning and participation in the digital world through commitments to increasing digital literacy and reducing competence gaps.  The event will address public and private sector initiatives in this field.
