FUTURE AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE INTERNET EIF Breakfast Debate23 June 2010 8.00-9.30 Private Salon, Members' Restaurant, European Parliament, Brussels In the context of the Public Private Partnership on Future Internet and of the European Commission’s plans to double the budget for “Future and Emerging Technologies” research by 2015, this breakfast will offer a timely and relevant opportunity to exchange views on on-going upcoming initiatives in this area. ICT will in many instances enable the development of future services and applications. The debate will focus on future service and applications that will drive growth and European competitiveness, as well as the protocols and underlying technologies. At stake is also the collaborative efforts ICT industry must undertake with other industry sectors in order to deliver those services: how to foster cooperation (“convergence”) between industry sectors that have different business cultures, different standardization practice and sometimes different development cycles.
