Funding ICT innovation and the role of venture capital

EIF Breakfast Debate


While the reception on the previous evening focuses on the positive role of ICT innovation, during this breakfast participants will exchange views on the role of risk finance and the importance of venture capital in relation to the development of entrepreneurship, innovation and clusters.

Issues relating to the main obstacles for risk investment and the implications for the development of a knowledge-based economy will be addressed, as well as the interaction between venture capital companies and young innovative start-up.

David Rimer, Co-founder and Partner, Index Ventures

Index Ventures is a venture capital investment firm based in Geneva, Switzerland, with offices in London, Jersey, and starting in 2011, Silcon Valley. The firm was founded in 1996. Since its inception, the firm has raised four main venture funds and a growth capital fund with in excess of €1.5 billion of investor commitments. Index invest primarily in the Information Technology and Life Sciences sectors.
