The Digital World in 2025: Perspectives for the European software industry

EIF Breakfast Debate

The commercial software industry has undergone many transformations since it first emerged some three decades ago. Yet in fundamental ways the software evolution is still in its infancy, and the next five to ten years will truly demonstrate what it can achieve.

Microsoft Chief Software Architect, Mr. Craig Mundie discussed on how this evolution will impact European citizens including the greatest challenges the industry and governments currently face – climate change and energy sustainability and health and Europe’s aging population.

Software will also be a compelling driver to break the access barrier where traditional computing is only available to only 1.5 billion people. How can the rest of the planet be included and benefit. Mr. Mundie has taken over the responsibilities from Mr. Bill Gates in defining the future software strategy for Microsoft.
