As the immediate crisis in transatlantic data flows is addressed, we need to think more broadly about how Europe can take advantage of the opportunities afforded both by data-driven innovation and the data that traditional industrial companies increasingly use to add value. The role of regulation and trade is critical in maximizing the economic potential of intra-European and external data flows. This EIF debate, chaired by Pilar del Castillo MEP, looked into how smart regulation and trade agreements can boost data’s growth-enhancing potential.
