Fiona Fanning is European Affairs Manager at ECDL Foundation, the certifying authority of the leading international computer skills certification programme – ECDL / ICDL. ECDL Foundation's mission is to enable proficient use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that empowers individuals, organisations and society, through the development, promotion, and delivery of quality certification programmes throughout the world. Fiona has served in EU Affairs advocating for the importance of digital skills and certification for over 5 years, previously in the capacity of Senior Policy Advisor. Fiona also is the Secretary General of CEPIS, the Council of European Professionalism Informatics Societies - an organisation that represents informatics societies from 35 countries in greater Europe. She is an Executive Committee member of the European e-Skills Association (EeSA) and a member of the High Level Advisory Board of the European Centre for Women in Technology (ECWT).
Fiona graduated with an international B.A from University College Dublin, Ireland and a Masters Degree in Translation specializing in Law from Dublin City University. She also holds a Diplôme d'Etudes Universitaires Françaises from the Université Lyon III, France. Her previous roles include Director of Beyond Words Translation Services, Director with the America Red Cross, and Project Manager for an international relief and development agency in West Africa.
