Stephen leads Microsoft’s EMEA Technology Office which engages with technology policy makers concerning the future direction of technology and the implications for social and economic policy. Through these engagements, Stephen and his team work to ensure that the unique needs of government and public sector organizations are reflected in Microsoft’s technology and development strategies, and to help governments develop policies that support innovation, economic growth, and societal development.
Stephen is a regular international speaker on a range of technology and technology policy issues and has more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in global technology companies across both emerging and developed markets. Prior to joining Microsoft Stephen held senior technical and business leadership positions in IBM.
Stephen is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a member of The Royal Institute of International Affairs. Stephen is a member of Microsoft's Standards Advisory Council, and is a professional member of The British Computer Society; The Institution of Engineering and Technology; The Association for Computing Machinery; The IEEE, IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Standards Association. Stephen has recently been appointed as the EMEA leader of SRII, the Service Research and Innovation Institute.
