Preview of EIF publication ‘Top 10 Digital Future Trends’

Breakfast debate

brouchure

In the run-up to European Parliamentary elections in 2014, EIF published an in-depth forward-looking vision, The Digital World in 2030. Our purpose was to help inform the political debate leading up to those elections.

Now, in the run-up to new EP elections in May 2019, our Steering Committee has endorsed this project to re-visit our 2014 vision by polling our full membership on the continuing relevance, or not, of trends and issues identified five years ago. We have also included a few new trends that were not identified - most notably growing concerns over the impacts of social media on our democratic institutions and the consequent call for content controls.

Our purpose once again is to help inform and focus the pre-election political debate at a moment in history when digitally-driven transformation increasingly throws up fundamental new challenges for legislators in all democracies across the full spectrum of their competences.
