The European Commission is currently working on a new document on how trade policy can help to achieve the objectives of the 'Europe 2020' Strategy.
This EIF dinner debate will highlight the importance of Trade in ICT products and services for the European economy as well as the benefits for emerging and developing markets. It will discuss both the traditional and new barriers for trade in the ICT sector, the priorities for the EU’s bilateral and multilateral negotiations in ICT, and whether we need a Digital Agenda for trade, that matches the one for the Single Market.
In light of the extended competencies of the European Parliament in trade and the recent Commission consultation about a future trade policy for the EU, it is very timely for the EIF to have a thorough discussion on this subject.
