As Head of Collaborative Research Paul leads BT engagement with formal collaborative research programmes like EU FP7 and the UK Governments Technology Strategy Board (TSB). He is responsible for the governance process that determines which projects BT will participate in and for ensuring that the projects address BT’s research ambitions. Part of this role is to oversee the current portfolio of collaborative research projects and to support the required activities that make them different from internal projects. Paul is the Legal Entity Appointed Representative (LEAR) for British telecommunications plc.
Paul is also active in supporting the development of the funding mechanisms themselves, in particular the EU and UK funding schemes. He was a key member of the “G16 Group” which led to the EU Future Internet PPP funding calls and is currently actively involved in groups reviewing the H2020 proposals.
